L'ho ascoltato 3,4 volte negli ultimi 2-3 giorni. Non mi dispiace ma non mi fa gridare al capolavoro.

Come al solito io e gli Elbow potremo tecnicamente avere un bel rapporto ma finiamo sempre per guardarci molto freddamente. Alcuni pezzi sono stupendi, altri un po' pomposetti ma godibili, altri pallosi al 100% alcuni pallosi solo al 50% poiché trovano sempre il modo di metterci una pezza e salvarlo.

Guy Garvey, speaking in the new issue of Uncut, out now, reveals that Elbow’s new album is heavily inspired by progressive rock.

“It’s very different from Build A Rocket Boys!,” he explains. “In some parts it’s choppier and tighter and harder than previous records. In other places it’s a lot more experimental then we’ve been for the last couple of albums.

“We watched a prog rock documentary, then sampled some of it and made a new groove. I’d say this is our proggiest record.”

Non voi, ma io ricordo che Staning On The Shoulders Of Giants degli Oasis fu presentavo come "la svolta Led Zeppelin + Chemical Brothers". :ride:

Il primo singolo conferma una volontà di contaminare maggiormente la formula delizia degli Elbow, poi chi si aspetta che diventino chissà cosa di strano è un grillino.

Gli Elbow sono già perfetti nella loro formula e pertanto è giusto quanto traspare dal primo estratto, una variazione sul tema.

comunque è palese perchè parlano di progressive rock. 21st century schizoid man anybody? la batteria molto brudford-iana, assoletto di chitarra decisamente a là fripp, per non parlare dei fiati 'free jazz' dei primi crimson. non ho fatto caso al testo, ma non mi stupirei se fosse in stile epico-sinfield-iano. :laugh:

comunque, dal primo ascolto me piasce, perchè hanno ri-letto i crimson in stile pop-rock moderno / elbow-iano.
