Volendo fare una genealogia John Cage è sicuramente il tramite fra Erik Satie e Brian Eno. Satie con la sua musique d'ameublement ha sostanzialmente inventato l'ambient music mettendo i semi che faranno nascere la musica contemporanea (insieme a Debussy), John Cage ha definitivamente "liberato" la musica dall'autoritarismo accademico all'epoca rappresentata dal serialismo e dalla scuola di Darmstadt, con i concetti di caso e silenzio. Brian Eno come tutti sappiamo ha applicato alla musica pop le sensibilità di Satie e Cage. Quindi intendi roba impegnat(iv)a, o anche espressioni più contemporanee?
