Chi sta controllando il movimento in quel ambiente 3d sta anche creando la musica. Che sarebbe la miscelazione dei suoni e il passaggio da un suono all'altro. Io mi chiedo se è Thom o Tarik che sta controllando il movimento. Presumendo che è stato Thom a dare il valore di suono agli oggetti. Se non sembra chiaro quello che sto cercando di dire, andate a vedere qualche altro video di Barri su Vimeo dove presenta i suoi programmi. Interessantissimo. Sono contento che Yorke si stia inserendo definitivamente nell'ambito della videoarte (nonostante, c'è da dirlo, alcuni video passati sfioravano la videoarte senza dubbio, vedi House of Cards). I suoni sembrano un po' scarti di tomorrow's modern boxes. L'installazione carina ma niente per cui strapparsi i capelli, o comunque niente che non si sia già visto/sperimentato più e più volte. Stando a quanto dice @Billy Beach (cioè interazione movimenti-video-musica), chiunque di voi con un minimo di conoscenze, un po' di Arduino e Max/msp può fare la stessa cosa anche a casa propria Diciamo pure che senza il bollino di garanzia del tommasino, l'installazione si sarebbe persa nell'anonimato... Ti consiglio di vedere qualche video presentazione di Barri del suo software Versum disponibili nel suo account Vimeo. Dopo aver visto come funziona il software diventa ovvia immaginare quanto poco potrebbe aver contribuito Thom. Ogni sfera/viso di Thom che si vede nei visuals rappresenta una ripresa di lui che canta una nota/parola/frase/loop. Queste sfere audiovisive popolano un ambiente 3d e Tarik con un controller spostandosi tra le diverse sfere miscela i suoni. Credo che è poco probabile che Thom ha portato a Tarik dei stems/tracce preregistrate del canto, in quanto i suoni sono sicuramente registrati insieme al video del suo viso che canta da vivo. La regola è simile per le strisce di luce colorate. Ogni striscia è anche un suono o una nota. Se è Tarik che sta navigando con il suo controller nel suo ambiente 3d tra delle strisce/note/suoni, di chi è la musica di Thom o di Tarik? Comunque mi intriga molto tutto della collaborazione tra Thom e Tarik. Anche se Tarik ha semplicemente usato la voce di Thom come un suo strumento è sempre fortissimo. Invece per l'imminente tour con Thom e Nigel, Barri ha confermato il solito modus operandi dove lui fornisce solo i visuals che lui genera dal vivo e tutto l'audio è creato separatamente da Thom e Nigel. Qualcuno riconosce i visuals inclusi nel articolo se sono stati usati già con dei brani specifici? Io riconosco solo quello in bianco e nero usato su Two Feet Off The Ground. Lacatus Posted June 24, 2019 Author Report Share Posted June 24, 2019 City Rats sarà presentata nell' ISM Hexadome di San Francisco durante il Grey Area Music Festival, il 26-27 luglio. https://grayareafestival.io/exhibition/ Tarik Barri presents a composition created in collaboration with Thom Yorke. Inside the virtual 3D universe of Barri's self-programmed "Versum" software, all that is heard can be seen, and all that is seen may be heard. Looped and distorted video fragments of Yorke's singing are scattered all around, forming, moving, and changing patterns. Twitching and pulsating, they fill the space with unfamiliar sounds and sights. The audience is taken on a flight exploring this universe in audiovisual surround, as their path determines the melodies and atmospheres they will encounter.
