pandroid
Io ho sempre visto la canzone come un apertura sul terrore dell'individuo verso la società odierna, tasse, disoccupazione, violenza e via avanti bellamente coglionando, la sintesi perfetta del clima di terrore, paura, inquietudine senza via di scampo che si crea in tutto HTTT.I keep the wolf from the door but he calls me upCalls me on the phoneTells me all the ways that he’s gonna mess me upSteal all my children if I don’t pay the ransomAnd I’ll never see ‘em again if I squeal to the copsiLo amo anche per questo HTTT. Gasba
In better health, writes Orwell, Lenin might have found the story interesting: “[The Cratchit family, eating Christmas dinner] are in high spirits because for once in a way they have enough to eat. The wolf is at the door, but he is wagging his tail. The steam of the Christmas pudding drifts across a background of pawn shops and sweated labour... The Cratchits are able to enjoy Christmas precisely because it only comes once a year. Their happiness is convincing just because Christmas only comes once a year. Their happiness is convincing just because it is described as incomplete.” timesonline.co.uk

(se n'era parlato qui)... http://scatterbrain.altervista.org/mb/index.php?showtopic=15361&p=571027A Wolf At The Door fa ovviamente riferimento al lupo cattivo dei tre porcellini Allo stesso filone appartiene anche Cymbal Rush ("there were ten in a bed and the little one said roll over" è un filastrocca per bambini), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdDypyS_5zEe poi ancora, I Will ("sitting ducks" è un cartoon)e anche Separator, che si ispira alle favole di Mog the cat

demos
"Sitting ducks", prima che un cartoon, è un'espressione idiomatica che vuol dire bersagli facili, in linea col resto del testo di I Will.
CutToShreds
Ottimo Lacatus.Comunque "keep the wolf from the door" e' una expression tipica inglese che equivale a "sbarcare il lunario" in italiano.E chiaramente, come l'immagine appropriatissima qui sopra con il lupo, si innesta in automatico il riferimento alle favole.
