Dawn Chorus

Recommended Posts

(Thom: What is your favourite song you wrote for Radiohead?)

TY: Pause. Whatever... I'm finishing at the moment. Um, there's one called "Dawn Chorus" I’m trying to finish at the moment: that's really great... I think.

https://www.ascap.com/repertory#ace/search/workID/897467283

<< Recently, the name "Dawn chorus" surfaced and I immediately looked for its meaning. A dawn chorus is the singing of a large number of birds together at dawn or just before dawn, especially during the breeding season, which from what I know, is at the beginning of the spring.

Now, as most of us (if not all of us) know, at the very beginning of december, Thom participated in Pathway to Paris where he performed new songs, one of which is titled "Silent spring".

However, I didn't really see the intention behind this new song's title, up until today. During a course I had in the afternoon, we approached a book titled "Silent spring", written in 1962 by Rachel Carson, an american biologist who dedicated herself to environmental problems. With her book, she tried (and succeeded) to raise awareness concerning the use of pesticides and other chemicals in agriculture, in order to prevent an hypothetical "silent spring", a spring that would eventually come where "dawn chorus" wouldn't be heard since birds would be extinct because of human activity >>

Pero' just my two cents. Invece magari avete ragionissima!

Chiedo a voi perche queste son robe "vostre"...

I've made the conjecture that Dawn Chorus is Open the Floodgates.  The Dawn Chorus/Wake Me assumption is based on nothing at all.  Open the Floodgates has the word "chorus" in it.  The press release says "including Radiohead fan favorite, Dawn Chorus".  Wake Me isn't known to non-die hard fans.  Open the Floodgates was performed by Atoms for Peace and is more widely known.  It has to be Open the Floodgates.
