max [idioteque.it] Posted July 12, 2007 Report Share Posted July 12, 2007 I'm at HiFi bar in the city last night with my band and a few friends, drinking, talking, pointing, laughing, as is our wont at bars. We're there for the Spoon listening party (my drummer is friends with Britt) and we're crammed in a booth trying to glimpse girls without being glimpsed ourselves. That becomes decidedly easier once Britt shows up and the cumulative attention of the room shifts frontman-ward. He's a tall, strangely attractive red-head, and looks as though he should be someone you need to pay attention to. Graham talks to him for a bit about something I can't hear, while Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga pulses around me, shaking the walls. It sounds like Spoon, which is a good thing, but I can't help but wonder if the last thing Britt wants to be doing is listening to his album again.We spend the next hour or so drinking, smoking, falling into awkward conversations with girls we don't know, mostly about stuff we don't know, though our band comes up a few times. Always be closing, right? Alec Baldwin said that in some movie.Then Colin and Ed and Nigel show up.Our jaws drop, but we try to drop them discreetly so as not to make a scene. Surprisingly, they blended in well, standing amongst the people (well, Ed was standing over the people), drinking, talking, pointing, laughing.This was all very surreal, it's still sinking in, and all I know is that I should be castrated, because though I have balls, I don't use them. If Marty and Graham and Tim hadn't gone up to Colin, I wouldn't have any proof of the encounter, or anything to remember it by. But luckily, I was able to get this picture, which is funny, because though there were a lot more people involved, Ian misframed it, so it's just me and the Cozman, looking like bruisers.Later I shook Ed's hand (which are the size of dinner plates), and he told me to not give up on a song that we've given up on. Graham's girlfriend brought it up, I think. This is what I said to Ed O'Brien: "Ed, man, I appreciate it, but you know as well as I do, that sometimes songs just don't work." To which he said, "Yeah, I know. But you've just gotta keep at them." To which Graham said, "Dude, I think we should totally still do it." To which I said "Yeah, but you're just playing drums. I've gotta sing the damn thing." At which point Ed chuckled in what I assume was agreement. That was pretty cool.Later, as Ed and Colin (Nigel sat in the back chatting up some girl all night) were leaving, we were able to convince them take one more picture. Ed said the only stipulation was that everybody "smile really big." Colin, of course, didn't.They're in the city mastering the album. Then they're going to listen to it, see what they think.So, we're almost there, maybe.Oh yeah, when Marty asked Colin if Nude was going to be on LP7, Colin looked uncomfortable, said "Heh heh, maybe, if we can do it right..." and slinked back inside. This was after Marty gave him a Camel Ultra Light, too. Some people, I tell you. Favors for favors my ass. Lacatus Posted July 12, 2007 Report Share Posted July 12, 2007 Ok maxun ragazzo di atease gli ha incontrati... ha scattato qualche foto con loropoi ha fatto le domande di rito: ed ecco le risposte1) la band è a NYC per il master dell'album, lo ascolteranno se piace bene, tutto ok, se non piace cambieranno tracklist finchè non lo sentono perfetto.2) forse "nude" non sarà nell'album (Colin ha detto "if we can do it right"... e ha fatto una faccia strana )3) sembra che ci siano trattative con una piccola casa discografica di Nigel Godrich... Hai ragione Lacatus in effetti che domanda di merda!!!Io avrei invece chiesto più qualcosa riguardante il sound del disco. The only other bit of unsubstantiated info we can add to this highly speculative post: Industry folks at Pitchfork this weekend said "the new Radiohead is going to blow minds."
