Boh..l'ho ascoltato e mi pare veramente trascurabile. Certo non è un album monocorda, spaziano anche, ma in maniera assolutamente scimmiottesca imho. Con i Coldplay ho da tempo la sensazione di grande forzatura in tutto ciò che fanno, come se la loro musica rappresenti ciò che "devono" fare e non loro stessi. Poco sinceri, insomma.

Premesso che ovviamente le mie sono considerazioni assolutamente personali e non hanno nessuna pretesa di oggettività. Capisco cosa dici e sono d'accordo. Diciamo allora che nel 2011 ero sintonizzato con il primo lavoro e ne apprezzavo tantissimo la fragilità e l'imperfezione che percepivo. Oggi, nel 2019, ho l'impressione che Blake ed io non siamo più purtroppo (o per fortuna) nella stessa fase, o forse i miei 45 anni sono troppi per esserlo. Fortuna che Thom è più grande di me!! (è per sdrammatizzare)

Ma magari! Da ieri l'avrò ascoltato una decina di volte: in macchina, con le cuffie, con lo stereo ma non me ne piace veramente nemmeno una. Gli lascio il suo tempo, senz'altro, ma la vedo dura, molto dura. Poi ripeto suoni belli, musica cool, molto contemporanea ma mi sembra tutto già sentito manco fosse un'Ariana Grande qualunque (con tutto il rispetto per la signorina, eh!). Il "duetto" con Andrè 3000 è poi francamente inascoltabile, non arrivo a fine canzone neanche sotto tortura. Di una Retrograde non ce n'è nemmeno la pallida ombra, di una canzone dello stesso spessore intendo. Non mi sembra un album fatto per durare nel tempo ma per cogliere l'attimo, ecco.

Phew...for a minute..pensavo di essere il solo al mondo a pensarla così! Considero l'album omonimo del 2011 uno tra i più belli di questo decennio, soprattutto per il mood minimale e i silenzi. In Assume Form avrà appunto trovato la sua strada, sarà innamorato cotto, avrà come sempre i suoni giusti e anche i featuring giusti ma ha perso l'anima. La sua anima, ora ha quella di uno tra tanti. C'è poco da fare: i dischi belli si scrivono quando si è tristi e/o incazzati con il mondo.
