Ce n'è voluto di tempo eh, è stato ostico, però ad ogni ascolto un tassello andava al suo posto, e questo mi ha spinto a continuare. E' un album molto ritmico, e le sensazioni iniziali potevano rimandare a quelle dei primi tempi di TKOL, in cui sembrava "confusionario", "caotico". Poi tutto è andato al suo posto. Wanderer Posted February 3, 2017 Report Share Posted February 3, 2017 Ho provato a sentire qualcosa dell'album dei BADBADNOTGOOD Un ascolto distratto eh, ma rimango della mia idea. La cosa sarebbe anche interessante ma è tutto troppo inquadrato, levigato, pulitino...e le ritmiche giuste e il pianoforte jazz, e le voci, poi le ospitate. Ultimamente sto cominciando a pensare che ci sia del bel movimento nella scena jazzistica, con nuove leve che hanno inteso il jazz in maniera amplissima e riportandolo a stilemi anche più "pop", mixandolo con rnb e soul che secondo me è una bella cosa..penso ai vari Thundercat, Henry,, Makaya, Glasper - per cui non impazzisco, ma sta facendo qualcosa di importante per il genere... - un paio di gruppi inglesi che trovo interessanti e ovviamente Flying Lotus (che per me è un po' il padrino anche se fa cose molto diverse..) Ci sono dei risultati secondo me molto validi, ma ecco non riesco a metterci dentro tra questi validi i BBNG. Il problema è che mi pare che in molti di questi progetti sia tutto bello, carino, pulito, pop appunto...ma improvvisano poco! I BBNG non ho ancora capito se siano bravi ad improvvisare, perchè il dubbio ti viene, non si spingono mai tanto oltre. Ora capisco il voler fare un progetto appetibile, mischiandolo con la forma canzone, con il soul ecc.. Ma c'è poco di personale, è tutt troppo levigato, in alcuni casi proprio banale, sembra musica chillout a volte. Se invece spingessero un po' di più la cosa sarebbe più interessante. A me fa piacere che ci sia questa spinta a far muovere il jazz e renderlo ancora popolare, credo sia importantissimo e la scena che si sta tirando su - concordo con Herbie Hancock - è interessante e va sfruttata: il problema è la qualità generale dei musicisti, molte volte. Non capisco mai dove finisca il fine lavoro di suoni - suoni belli oramai li possono trovare tutti - e dove sta la creatività. Wanderer Posted February 4, 2017 Report Share Posted February 4, 2017 bellissimo questo album di Mehldau/Thile. Jazz, blue grass ma con sentori più Irish che Americani. Canzoni dirette, emotive, ma con tanto spazio per mehldau/thile di improvvisare e il loro interplay mi piace molto. E' un disco accessibilissimo, melodico, cantabile e molto molto bello. Sinceramente non avrei mai pensato di sentire mehldau fare un disco di canzoni americane/irlandesi e invece... Per chi cerca il classico Mehldau questo non è il lavoro giusto,ma per chi ha voglia di sentire Mehldau in un contesto diverso, di certo questo è un disco che t'aspetti da lui. Una bellissima scoperta questo Chris Thile, bravo strumentista e con una voce...particolare ma intensa. Bravi, grazie brad, più invecchia più migliora..
