Giudicando da queste prime foto, direi che la direzione intrapresa fin ora è "Tomorrow's Modern Boxes + Jonny".Tuttavia è molto prematuro sbilanciarsi su queste cose...come hai scritto tu, sarà marzo/aprile il momento chiave...lì capiranno che direzione prenderà l'Lp9.Adesso devono scrivere, arrangiare, suonare, registrare, scrivere, arrangiare, suonare, registrare, scrivere, arrangiare, suonare, registrare... Lacatus Posted December 8, 2014 Author Report Share Posted December 8, 2014 Non confondiamo MIXING = operazione che si fa per ciascuna canzone quando la si è registrata, con MASTERING = operazione che si fa quando tutte le canzoni che si è deciso di includere nell'album sono registrate e mixate.Il MIXING si può fare in qualsiasi momento delle sessioni. Il MASTERING per forza alla fine.Sicuramente a settembre/ottobre oltre che scrivere, arrangiare, suonare e registrare pezzi nuovi di zecca, hanno ritoccato vecchie registrazioni risalenti al 2012 (tour TKOL) e anche 2009-2010 (session TKOL), e devono già avere completato un 3/4/5 di pezzi che Nigel, pazientemente, sta mixando. Poi saranno messi sullo scaffale e alla fine delle sessioni decideranno se selezionarli per l'album o no.Torno su questo punto che è molto importante.A conferma di quanto detto qui sopra, rileggendo i diari di Ed scritti durante le session di Kid A/Amnesiac, viene fuori per esempio che Kid A la canzone, The National Anthem, In Limbo, Optimistic e Morning Bell/Amnesiac furono mixate nel novembre 1999 (quindi circa 8 mesi prima del mastering di Kid A, che fu fatto nel luglio 2000).Dunque Nigel sta già mixando ==> e se sta già mixando vuol dire che c'è già roba registrata ==> e se c'è roba già registrata significa non solo che hanno registrato nel corso di queste sessioni, ma potrebbero aver completato registrazioni risalenti a precedenti sessioni. Non sarebbe la prima volta: per esempio, su Hail To The Thief ci sono due brani, Backdrifts e The Gloaming, che furono registrati nell'inverno 2000, durante le session di Kid A, e che furono completati con la traccia vocale ed altri ritocchi nelle session del 2002. Oppure The National Anthem: la base fu registrata nel novembre 1997 come b-side di No Surprises, ma fu tenuta da parte e ripresa in mano nel 1999 durante le session di Kid A, con l'aggiunta di ondes martenot e poi sezione fiati. Nello stesso TKOL figura una manipolazione di una registrazione del 2005: Fela Kuti Thing ==> Feral.Questo per sottolineare cosa? Che non stanno partendo da zero: si sono riascoltati tutta la roba in archivio lasciata a metà e stanno provando a completarla, dedicandosi contemporaneamente a pezzi nuovi di zecca, MAI SENTITI.Ci saranno sorprese... Lacatus Posted December 8, 2014 Author Report Share Posted December 8, 2014 Sempre dal diario di Ed (session Kid A/Amiesiac)...Undated (mid-november 1999), posted on december 1st 1999 -i've tried to write something about what we've been doing in the last five weeks - there have been the day-by-day accounts which have been of the 'we did this and then we did that' variety..........all incredibly boring to read. then there have been a couple of 'essays' written whilst stoned late at night, only to be re-read the next morning. pretensious old tosh. all have been discarded. it's easy to get extremely self-conscious doing this. we're in london at present and nigel is mixing; he has been for three days. which means that we have actually finished six or so tracks. this has been our life for the last five weeks - we had a list of about ten songs which was then further narrowed down to six. they are definitely different....................there's an eight piece brass ensemble in a charles mingus style on one - eight 'jazzers' came down for the day and blew their stuff all over 'everyone - the national anthem'. they were fantastic............thom and jonny conducted. what a day. there's 'optimistic', there's another which started off as a thom doodle on the 505........there's also the paris version of 'lost at sea'.........the batsford 'morning bell'.it is different. but that's what we do. what has also become evident is that the summer panic that led to two months rehearsal may have been a little premature.....or at the very least a little on the hysterical side.there was some good stuff recorded in paris, copenhagen and batsford. i've been listening to alot of the copenhagen tracks and out-takes and the overall sound is great. pretty dark but then that session was hardly a chuckle-trousered affair....in pratica nel novembre 1999 la band andò a riascoltare le vecchie registrazioni delle session ABORTITE di Parigi (gennaio/febbraio 1999), Copenhagen (marzo 1999) e Batsford (aprile 1999). Queste furono le prime 5 canzoni ad essere mixate da Nigel, appunto nel novembre 1999:In Limbo (Parigi, gennaio/febbraio 1999)Morning Bell (Batsford, aprile 1999) ==> pubblicata in AmnesiacKid AThe National Anthem (Oxford, novembre 1997 + 1999)Optimistic (Oxford, ottobre 1999)Alla fine del post, Ed parla anche delle session di Copenhagen, dalle quali verranno successivamente ripescati altri brani come Dollars And Cents e Morning Bell versione Kid A.Questo ancora per ribadire che:1) è prassi ripescare registrazioni provenienti anche da vecchie session di mesi e mesi orsono sulle quali lavorare...2) mixaggio non significa per forza conclusione delle registrazioni dell'album: quelle 5 canzoni furono mixate nel novembre 1999, ma le registrazioni di Kid A-Amnesiac finirono nella primavera del 2000.Dunque se Nigel già questo novembre (2014) stava mixando significa che qualche canzone finita già c'è (magari proveniente da vecchie session), ma non significa che l'Lp9 è pronto... He then tells me he wants to show me something. so apparently he's acquaintances with this guy who is involved with organizing venue events, ect. He tells me that this guy is acquaintances with radiohead and others in the industry. at this point I'm like whatever. he then pulls up the guys facebook page and shows me a picture of the guy hanging out with thom at some pool. My friend mentions that he first met the guy during the king of limbs and that the guy mentioned the tour two weeks before it was announced.anyways. he shows me the current messages they exchanged. my friend mentions to the guy how the band is back in the studio and they guy replies that he knows and that tentatively the plan is for a tour and new album in 2015. that is all.
