During the “Stanley Donwood in conversation with Dan Richards" event in which Donwood discussed some of his recent works, including the artwork he did for ‘A Light For Attracting Attention’, he mentioned that himself and Thom Yorke took a visit to the Bodleian Libraries in Oxford and became fascinated by these maps. Donwood explained how the maps had lots of different colours, compasses, and detailed the water and hills in a unique way, similar to how we see them on the finished album cover. Facciamocene una ragione: attualmente i Radiohead non esistono e gli Smile sono la miglior evoluzione possibile, in quanto contengono l'unico autore di musica-testi (Thom), il secondo principale autore della musica e degli arrangiamenti (Jonny) e il sound designer di fiducia (Nigel) e come hai sottolineato tu l'artista visivo che da sempre plasma l'immaginario radioheadiano e thomyorkiano (Stanley). Gli altri 3 sono dei turnisti sostituibilissimi. E' come dire che Battisti-Mogol non è più Battisti-Mogol quando Lucio abbandona la sezione ritmica de Il Volo (Dall'Aglio, Callero ecc...) e registra con la sezione ritmica di Finardi e Venditti (Calloni, Bullen, ecc..). Del resto sono d’accordo con loro (così come sul fatto di aver lavorato con Nigel): squadra che vince non si cambia (al max si riduce). Per me dei radiohead conta tantissimo il modus operandi, che negli Smile è diverso. In quel disco ci sono dei pezzi che si sarebbero semplicemente vergognati a far uscire a nome Radiohead (nel bene e pure nel male). Comunque Thom e Jonny sono ovviamente i più importanti, ma etichettare gli altri come turnisti mi sembra un'esagerazione. Cioè secondo te le linee di basso dei Radiohead non le scrive Colin?
