pandroid Posted August 13, 2009 Report Share Posted August 13, 2009 Preso da Atease, spiega un pò come è uscito fuori sto leak.A recap of what we know, these are only FACTS people:as far as we know the first sign of this leak was on the private torrent tracker what.cd (#1 of its kind for music), uploaded around 22:30 GMT (about 15 hours ago) by the member crzathis member has been on the site for 1 year and 4 months. he changed his settings ("paranoia level") a few hours after he uploaded the song to hide everything he uploaded and downloaded, however (and i can't prove this obviously so these are not really facts per se) i saw that he never uploaded anything else and that he downloaded around 5 things, one of them being a vinyl rip of Merriweather Post Pavilion about 7 months ago (that's the last recorded activity on the site before the leak). this person didn't respond to any messages i sent (less surprising than the fact he changed his "paranoia level")there was 2 files: the .mp3 and a .nfo. the filenames contain the word "advance" which in scene-speak means a leak of a particular release (which can be just a song)the nfo file is nothing more than a text file that comes with copies of scene releases. its content can be read here. the style very much look like a regular nfo from a regular scene group but the "poem" and the ascii art in the title is a little too elaborated for a scene group (that's my opinion). the name of scene group (or what radiohead would like us to believe is a scene group) is "wall of ice" (woi) which could be inspired by this particular piece of the web comic xkcd (which is mostly known in geek circles)here i paste the "poem":QUOTEi just wanted to reassure readersthat following representationsseeking confirmationthat before your very eyesbehind the wall of icethat the box is not under threathowever they are set to removeother boxesin fact i have the list in front of mei went to a briefing on their plansand challenged them to tell meexactly what the cost would bethey spoke in broad termswe're looking for: talented puppeteersworms, disgruntled executives, sacked fliesgenres: doomcore, folktronica, ukfthis indeed sound like thom but, still, no proofin the nfo 2 pseudonyms appear: "sca[GG]er" (the one who made the rip) and "racy251" (the one who made the ascii art)the nfo file also indicate that the release date for the song is august 17th 2009, usually in nfos this date indicate the retail date. we don't know what will happen on the 17thi opened the id3 tag of the mp3 to see if there was anything revealingin the ISRC field it's noted "GBSTK0900111"; "GB" is for the country, "09" is for the year, "00111" is just an id number (unimportant)i googled "STK" and stumbled on this interesting blog post. this guy did the same thing back in 2007 with the mp3s of in rainbows and found out the same ISRC tag with value "GB-STK-07-000##". i don't know what "STK" stands for but it's the same we got todaythey both have been encoded with LAME 3.93 (not the same bitrate tho), which is odd since it's not even the last version (3.98.2). does anyone know if this particular version is used in leaking circles? if not it could mean that it was encoded by radiohead and if they did that.... HypFra Posted August 13, 2009 Report Share Posted August 13, 2009 Ascoltata a casa, rilassato e con un impianto decente, questa canzone appare davvero particolare.Ci sono i debiti verso il periodo Kid A/Amnesiac e verso i Can o i Neu!, sicuramente, ma allo stesso tempo mi pare anche una forte impronta di presente. Da come è stata suonata sembra davvero di pura ispirazione. Non una Jam sicuramente, ma potrebbe essere qualcosa di evoluto da un gioco di riscaldamento, come quando prima di iniziare le prove si gioca su un giro per rompere il ghiaccio e poi ci si trova, qualche volta, in mano una canzone... questo sì.Prende piede per me l'ipotesi del pezzo registrato per New Moon, anche perchè il mood del pezzo sarebbe indicato... certo più di 15 step su Twilight Comunque mi piace moltissimo. Non la sentiremo, credo, per radio (ma paradossalmente forse in discoteca sì, in qualche forma di remix). Si sta tornando, forse, in ognuna delle 3 canzoni inedite del recente, a una musica "da degustazione" (termine del cavolo, in questo caso, ma rende l'idea).
