Per cui si potrebbe dire che visto tonalmente è in fa minore, se invece lo si concepisce come un brano modale è Do frigio. Devo dire però che la tesi del brano modale frigio è più convincente, per come è strutturata la melodia, che chiude proprio sul do, e lo fa tra l'altro passando per il do# (in its riiiight plaaace: do#-do), quindi mettendo in risalto il tipico cromatismo di seconda frigio. Dunque ha senso la teoria dello "switch" tra Do maggiore ionico (cui appartengono gli accordi di do e fa maggiore) e il modo Do frigio (cui appartengono gli altri accordi). The only way to explain certain mysterious alignments is to just lay it out. I do remember this day being just one where going into it, NOTHING should have worked out based on history. I really wanted the job, as the thought of Thom doing a solo record especially in 2005-2006 was compelling to say the least. The solo work now seems normal but up to this point, I don’t believe any of the band members had ventured out to try a solo record. Mojo then telling me the shoot is for a cover is always a no-brainer. ALL the shots working instantly never happens, there’s always a dud in there, which loses steam and wastes time. Never had a photo shoot in an Amsterdam studio until this day. No lights ahead of time. No assistants. GIANT soundstage, which traditionally bombs. This day though the photo gods were smiling down. This last shot was the ultimate osmosis play. I hadn’t heard the music nor seen the Stanley Donwood art as our shoot was way before the album release date. Thom though just explained the cover as a man standing with arm out holding back the water. I wanted just a silly shot to show the enormity of the space, as it was massive. Once his arm went out, I still had no idea what was happening yet, it looked interesting. Only later did I flip at seeing the actual cover! Weird scenes inside the Soundstage. The purpose of photography is also more than just clicking the shutter. Per altro descrizione molto gratuita, dato che non si vedono né si vedranno mai nel film piscine di quella forma, sembra una cosa molto buttata lì e suona tanto di citazione.
